Do all writers suffer from heartbreaking depression? Probably. However, after one difficult winter, and after years of writing things I never finished, I wrote an entire series this spring. Instead of drifting into the numb void of depression, it helped me keep one foot in reality and to remain present and focused. My work might be total garbage, but completing these books brought me satisfaction, a sense of accomplishment, and one more reason to keep breathing. The struggle continues, but that’s okay. No matter what happens, I’m not a failure, or worthless. I did something, and it was something that really mattered to me.
