10 Tweets That Explain Why Cristela Alonzo Is My Latina Spirit Animal

Confession: I love me some Cristela. I was a fan of her self-titled sitcom from Day 1 and was one of the many members of the Latino community who felt completely deflated, disappointed and a little mad when ABC canceled it after only one freakin' season. But, as Cristela herself told BuzzFeed, she's just getting started.

We need more "luchadoras" or fighters like her to open the dialogue for more Latino representation in mainstream media. Cristela is everything a young Latina should aspire to be: She's sure of herself, confident in her abilities and shuns stereotypes that no longer apply to the modern Latina. It was all featured in her show, which makes it all the more heartbreaking that it is now no longer. (You can still catch the entire first season on Netflix, though!)

I #LoveTwitter...especially when I tweet something innocuous that an anonymous troll finds and then spends an hour calling me racial slurs.

Watching Scrooged. Great movie from a time where a lot of comedies had an innocence to them, even when they were raunchy. I miss that.

I love La Casa Azul! My sister, Chiquis Barrón, who's an author, had a reading there from her first novel "Cafe Dulcet." She just published a book called "Good Things for a Young Woman's Spirit" (illustrated by my 'ama') that I know Cristela would LOVE! (hint hint)
