Some Absolute Geniuses In Sweden Have Created Dishes That Clean Themselves

Dishes. That clean. Themselves.

1. Swedish design studio Tomorrow Machine has cooked up these amazing cellulose plates and dishes.

It’s made out of nanocellulose - it’s lightweight, flexible, and able to withstand drops from significant heights. They then added a layer of hydrophobic coating - it repels dirt and water with incredible efficiency.

2. The material mimics the surface of a lotus leaf to create a surface that’s resistant to dirt and water.

The designers claim this will not only save resources during the manufacturing process, but also throughout its life-cycle, as it does not require water or chemicals to remain clean.

3. But it’s not ready for the market yet.

The designers explain that it’s a new technology and is still being perfected here.
