A Guy Went Down Into A Live Volcano With A GoPro And Took A Selfie And It Was Completely Insane

It appears to be quite warm down there.

Here are Sam Cossman and George Kourounis just popping down into the Ambrum Volcano.

The video was shot by Sam Cossman, by the way. You can visit his website here.

Kourounis told The Huffington Post it was "like a window into hell".

And described the 1,200 foot descent as being "like a reverse climbing of Everest".

Apparently the splashes of lava melted holes in his clothes.

He told the website there was "terrible weather, tremendous heat from the lava, descending and ascending 400 metres of near vertical, loose rock face, acid rain so strong that it could have come from a car battery, and a variety of other craziness".

But it was all worth it for this selfie, no doubt.

Volcano #selfie. When normal selfies are not extreme enough!

And the most awesome GIF of all time, featuring him in what he described as "a dangerous spot".

    Full, completely incredible, video here.
