Many people in the world are fans of the movie Bridesmaids, which pretty much instantly became a comedy classic when it was released in 2011.
But did you know that one of those fans is ethereal space empress Tilda Swinton?
It's true. Tilda Swinton really loses her shit over Bridesmaids.
The movie's co-writer Annie Mumolo talked about the love the Oscar winner and walking sea foam feels for the comedy in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.
“One of the most surprising pieces of information we got during that Bridesmaids time period was that Tilda really loved the movie," Mumolo told Vanity Fair. "We became e-mail friends—just writing back and forth occasionally. It was so funny, I thought, that Tilda Swinton was e-mailing me."
“She’s like, from another world,” Mumolo said of the alleged nymph fairy. “She’s one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever encountered. She’s so funny. Her e-mails are like works of art, truly. They should be published. The way she communicates is just beautiful and poetic.”
The communications between Annie and Tilda — which will hopefully one day be published in a sprawling multi-media biography of Tilda — eventually led to a professional collaboration. The pair are working on an adaptation of Auntie Mame.
“She asked me, ‘Have you read Auntie Mame?' I said, ‘No, I haven’t read the book but I’ve seen the other version of it made into a film version in the 50s.’ She said, ‘Would you take a look at it? I want to see if you are interested in writing a modern-day adaptation.’ I said yes, because you say yes to Tilda Swinton when she asks if you want to do something."
And all because Tilda Swinton is the biggest Bridesmaids fan in all the galaxies. Beautiful.
