So, there's a lot to ask about when it comes to the movie Passengers. For example: Why is it the way that it is?
But there's one big question we really need answered. We need to talk about what Chris Pratt's character, Jim, got up to in the year and three weeks that he was the only human awake on that spaceship.
For background, Jim wakes up. He's all hype. Then he realizes he's the only one awake.
Once he settles into his situation, we know he spends some of his alone time wandering the ship naked and growing a pretty cool beard. But what else did he get up to? THAT'S A LOT OF LONELINESS AND FREE TIME.
Hear me out. He spends a lot of time with Arthur, the android bartender, who is played by Michael Sheen.
For a full year, Arthur is the only other awake thing on that entire ship that has a human-looking face. And he becomes Jim's biggest confidant. Perhaps even his robot best friend.
So it begs the question: In the year that he was alone, did Chris Pratt's character ever try to make a little somethin' somethin' happen with Arthur?
I mean, clearly the guy was desperate for human companionship — he WOKE UP AND EFFECTIVELY MURDER-KIDNAPPED A LADY because he was so lonely.
And hell, we all know the trope of the sexy bartender.
Sure, Arthur doesn't have legs. But he's got hands. And a mouth. And that's really all you need out of an android sex toy.
