The 10 Most Best Moments In The "Scream" Franchise [SPOILERS]

In honour of the great Wes Craven and the season finale of Scream: The TV Series, here is a list of the ten best moments in the Scream franchise:

10. The Hollywood Mansion Bloodbath (Scream 3)

The conclusion of the original trilogy. A birthday party for Stab 3 director, Roman, turns into a bloodbath Hollywood can only dream about. All is revealed as Sydney finally comes face-to-face with her family's past.

9. Onstage Confrontation (Scream 2)

Sydney at her finest. Not only does she once again defeat two killers, but this time she turns the entire set against them. Not only is it a hell of an ending, but it also takes the motivations of the first film and turns them on their heads. This would continue in Scream 3 and Scream 4, and turn the trilogy into an ever evolving and expanding mystery.

8. Scream-ception (Scream 4)

Stab 6 within Stab 7 within Scream 4. A one-two-punch homage to the first film's opening and a meta-theatric mindf***. Need I say more?

7. TIE: Tatum's Death (Scream) / Police Car Crash (Scream 2)

Tatum's death is awesome based on creativity alone. The police crash makes Sydney face Ghostface and gives her the only chance she will get to unmask him. She runs instead and instantly regrets it.

6. Movie Theatre Murders (Scream 2)

One word: META. This scene is possibly the most meta-theatrical out of any of the Scream movies. Not only is it a preview screening of a film based on the events of the first film, but we are actually treated shot-for-shot remakes of some of the first films scenes featuring Tori Spelling, Luke Wilson and Heather Graham.

5. Sorority House Murder (Scream 2)

Wes Craven does a straight up, old school, call is coming from inside the house slasher movie. It just happens to star Sarah Michelle Gellar, also known as BUFFY THE F***ING VAMPIRE SLAYER! Sarah Michelle Gellar also starred in I Know What You Did Last Summer which was created by the same man who wrote and created Scream, Kevin Williamson.

4. Return to Woodsboro (Scream 3)

Sydney is forced to relive the events of Scream on an exact replica film set of her home from the first film. Sydney gets traumatized, we get meta gold.

3. Soundproof Booth Stabbing (Scream 2)

By far the most heart-wrenching moment in any of the films. Dewey is savagely attacked while Gale looks on helplessly. No horror couple is more more perfect than Gale & Dewey.

2. The Final Party (Scream)

Heartstopping, full-tilt, jungle madness. Criss-cross after criss-cross before the real Ghostface is finally revealed. Plays on all the classic horror movie tropes and gives us the perfect Scream twists. Possibly the best ending to any slasher movie since Friday the 13th.

1. The One That Started It All (Scream)

There's the shower scene in Psycho and then there is the first twelve minutes of Scream. This scene is iconic and game-changing. You could cut the rest of the film and keep this sequence and it still would have revolutionized the horror genre. It's easy to see why this film is reported to have tripled the use of Caller ID in the USA.

(Fun Fact: Drew Barrymore is said to have been offered the part of Sydney, but she suggested that she play Casey because killing off the biggest star in the first ten minutes would be more shocking. Hitchcock used the same technique when casting Janet Leigh in Psycho)
