    Preparing For A Teacup Pig

If you have decided to adopt a teacup pig as a pet here are some tips to help you prepare for one.

A teacup pig can be the smallest and cutest addition to your house. They are sweet, little creatures who behave just like a little attention seeking baby and are often great companions. For people who are allergic to dogs and cats, these teacup pigs make for the best pets as well. They are so little and so beautiful, that you would certainly want to bring one home as soon as possible.

Even though they have a huge price tag attached to them, which is a huge $1000, these pigs are quite popular amongst all and are often well known for their intelligence and their quickness to learn things. You can even train them at home to do a few tricks, except looking straight up at the sun which is practically impossible for the pigs whether big or small. If you have planned that you will be getting the little creature home, you need to do a few preparations. Here is a list that will take you through all the preparations that you must do in advance before the teacup pig arrives.

•Withdraw some money from the bank- Well it's not satirical and we are not trying to demean the owners of the teacup pigs, but there is more expenditure to a teacup pig than simply the rate tag. First of all, the shipment needs to be paid for. Secondly, you have to buy special food for this teacup pig. They eat 25% of vegetables in their daily diet and the rest can be composed of the special teacup pig food that is available in the market. As they love to eat and would generally eat a lot more than what they desired, you will end up end up paying a huge bill later. Moreover, the vet bills are certainly going to make you sweat a lot. So put aside a sum of money for the weekly expenses as well as for any unforeseen expenses.

•Prepare you backyard- the pigs are very small in size only when they are born. The rest of the times, they are quite huge and weigh around 35-60 pounds on an average. Plus, they also some typical pig tendencies because of which they love to dig the earth the whole day long and then roll in the mud. Honestly, you must not try to curb any of these tendencies and simply let the pig be. Make a small section of the backyard or the garden reserved only for him and train him to only go to that place to play. Otherwise, he will get messy and some innocent and muddy play will ruin your whole backyard. They are very intelligent creatures and they would learn very easily. Ensure that he has this personal space where he is free and he is not very restricted. Otherwise, being under a microscope all the time may upset your pig.

•Train other pets and small children- Other children and pets can be the best friends and the worst enemies of teacup pigs. Teacup pigs are generally very innocent little beings and they would hardly harm anyone. However, you must ensure that other pets and children are not left alone with the pig. While they may not intentionally do anything to the little pig, they may accidentally trip over it or do anything else that may harm your pig, often fatally. Therefore, prepare the children mentally that they are soon going to see the tiniest member of the family and they have to be very careful with him. Train the pets too, so that they don't harm the little pig in their curiosity.

•Get vegetables- Green vegetables are staple diet of these pigs apart from the pig food. They cannot be fed a regular farm pig diet and they may not react positively to it. Moreover, they are not a very stable breed so you should make their diet very strict and ensure that it is being followed. Ideally, 25% of their daily food has to be vegetables only. These vegetables have to be farm fresh and organic if you really want to see your pig healthy and sturdy. Ensure that you chop and dice the veggies properly before giving it to the mini pig. This would help him eat and digest properly and he would also feel healthier in general which would eliminate the chances of diseases and huge medical expenses.

•Take time out- these pigs need a lot of attention, in absence of which they become quite aggressive. If you don't play with the regularly and don't keep patting them all the time, they may get very upset about the matter and they start creating a mess all the time. You also have to take them out for walks and exercise regularly, so make sure that there is plenty of time that you devote on him.
