The government does not pay a dime of my healthcare, so why am I not immune to this legislation ?
You twist the argument. It’s not “every man for himself” it’s “every man and woman can choose for themselves” the point being once you surrender your right to make your own choices, what other rights - exactly - will you retain? Personally, Bloomberg does not gain the right to tell me how to eat, drink, or make my life decisions simply because he was elected to a local office. You may not agree, but my disagreement doesn’t mean I want people to “die.”
This reads like a very thinly vieled endorsement of Bloomberg and his policies, and since you call out Libertarians in particular at the close, it’s worth noting that the Libertarian complaint about this ban (and others like it) is the concept that a man who buys three terms as mayor, does not, in turn, buy the right to impose his will on law-abiding, tax-paying citizens. “Where does this end?” is a totally valid question, Ben - and it surprises me that someone devoted to freedom in so many other categories is so blind here.
yes, the US is out to “steal” the oil. which is why they never did so before Chavez was elected, and while the US becomes a net exporter of oil — nice theory
This has to be the most sanitized review of Chacez I have ever seen. Who wrote this, his PR secretary ? He destroyed his country, devalued their currency, rigged their elections, and silenced the press. Hey, but he led a “large life” so that’s all that matters, right ?
yeah because “clean energy” has already created soooo many good new jobs. Meanwhile in MA they want to tear down the windmills they just put up at a cost of millions of dollars. Fighting climate change is a great idea, but relying on idiot politicians to pick technology they “think” might work is not. How about a national energy policy for pete’s sake?
I am certain to find all of these exotic items at my local market. Meh.
Interesting that you pick on AMC throughout this article and don’t mention Emmy-winner Homeland’s whopping 2.7 million viewers — further, your suggestion that some of the best shows ever written for TV amount to simple “man does something” and “something else happens” formulas reads like petty jealousy.
