Benedict Cumberbatch Has Spoken At The Reburial Of Richard III

He's also playing Richard III in an adaption of The Hollow Crown. How incredibly meta.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who will play Richard III in a BBC adaption of Shakespeare's The Hollow Crown, has done a reading at Richard III's reburial.

It was also reported by The Guardian yesterday that Cumberbatch is related to Richard III as "a second cousin 16 times removed".

He read a poem written by the poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy that had been written for the reburial.

Here's a copy of the full poem.

Speaking to Channel 4's Jon Snow afterwards, Cumberbatch said that he couldn't base his portrayal Richard III in The Hollow Crown on today because The Hollow Crown has already finished filming.

He also says that he has based his portrayal of Richard III on Shakespeare's work and not the real Richard III.

He also found the whole reburial rather surreal.
