18 Reasons Why You Should March On 18 October For A Just Scotland

On Saturday, 18th October, the STUC is organising a mass demonstration in Glasgow, making the case for Decent Work and Dignified Lives. Here’s why you should march too:

    1. You haven't had a pay rise since 2010.

    2. Every winter, you delay putting the heating on for as long as possible because you can't afford the bill.

    3. You want to show the ConDem Government that they need to take Scotland seriously after the Indy Ref.

    4. You're tired of millionaires getting tax cuts while the most vulnerable are subjected to the Bedroom Tax and attacks on welfare.

    5. You want everyone to earn a A Living Wage that rewards a hard day’s work with a fair day’s pay.

    6. You can't afford to work because the cost of childcare is so high.

    7. You see people struggling in your family, community, and among your friends, and it seems so unfair that people are paying the price for a crisis that was not of their making.

    8. You feel like you're never going to be able to retire.

    9. And that when you do retire, that your pension won't be there.

    10. You want to see an end to austerity because you believe it's possible to create a fair and more equal society in another way.

    11. You believe that education can change the world.

    12. And you realise that by increasing the number of teachers in Scotland will create jobs, minimise class sizes, and reduce excessive teacher workloads.

    13. You're annoyed that the UK Government keeps selling off our public services.

    14. You can't find decent work.

    15. You don't mind paying taxes for a good NHS.

    16. You want to see an end to poverty and all that comes with it.

    17. You want to see Westminster deliver more powers to Scotland.

    18. You feel like walking in the rain with like-minded people for A Just Scotland.
