Cristofer Mayerling 3 years agoActually - This list makes sense. The 2000s has really been a cinema era challenged by technology. One of the few benefits of paying for a film in the cinema instead of watching it for free at home is the special effects and the sound quality. All the films in the list nearly DEMAND to be seen in the cinema for these reasons - people feel like they get something for the money, even though the plots may not be so good (objectively speaking). The only exception is Passion of the Christ, but with nearly 2 billion Christian people and around 15 million Jews in the world who for varying reasons feels like it is a necessity to watch this film - it is not that strange that it made it onto the list. Thanks for posting - makes for a great office quiz!

Kyle Lawrence 3 years agoMan, say what you want about the Passion of the Christ, it’s the only film on that list that isn’t 70% CGI.

HemlockEcho 3 years agoEvery single one of these is a sequel or adaptation. Either a) 00’s-era Hollywood is unoriginal and has no willingness to try new things or b) 00’s-era movie consumers have no taste and no willingness to try new things. Here’s to hoping the 10’s can’t be worse.

Scott Lamb 3 years agoNate: Good point! I paid for all of them except Transformers, which I snuck into, thereby keeping my conscience clean.

Nate Holland 3 years agoLooking over the list I see that I gave my ten dollars to every film on there. Yay me!

Scott Lamb 3 years agoFuzzycuffs: Not quite. This number is box office receipts, not including DVD sales, movie rentals or any other revenue stream.

fuzzycuffs 3 years agoPassion of the Christ is only up there because quite a lot of churches bought boxes and boxes of the DVDs to pass out to parishioners, of course paid for by donations that everyone is compelled to give.
