I recently became an American citizen (last March). I did it the legal way. I waited my turn to be interviewed for a Green Card after filing the correct documents and paying the fees. After being interviewed twice by immigration and waiting a year, i was granted a two-year probationary legal residency. Two years later, I was interviewed again just to make sure i was a law abiding resident. Only then was i given the Permanent Green Card. Five years later, i applied for my US citizenship and again waited to be interviewed. Before the interview, i had to study thr US government, civics and history because the citizenship interview will quiz you on that. Immigration will also test your English (written and spoken) and then they will check your background. I had 1 parking ticket and even THAT came up at the citizenship interview. My point is, i took the legal way of immigrating. I didnt cross the border undocumented. I worked hard LEGALLY to become what i am today: American. Now, what makes it right for these people to come here and be given preference over people who are here legally??? It is not fair. It is a slap to legal immigrants and Americans alike. Send them back. Let them do it the legal way. Life is hard.deal with it.
