Woman Marries Her Dog

Amanda Rodgers got down on one knee to propose to her pet Sheba.

The pair were married in front of 200 people in Split, Croatia.

Rodgers, 47, was married 20 years ago but the relationship apparently fizzled out after just a few months.

For her second marriage, the south Londoner wanted to do things properly.

'I got down on one knee and proposed. I could tell by her tail wagging that she said ''yes",' Rodgers said.

'The day was wonderful, more fun than the marriage. I gave her a kiss to seal the deal and then everyone threw confetti. It was a wonderful moment.'

Rodgers, who married Sheba in 2012, said she knew the wedding wasn't real 'in the legal sense', but said it was a nice way to show how much her pet meant to her.

'Sheba had been in my life for years, making me laugh and comforting me when I was feeling low,' she said. 'I couldn't think of anything more I'd need from a life partner.'
