Certainly one way to get people talking about your campaign.

So Paul McCartney has recorded this "rap" calling on people to go vegetarian once a week.

The plea is part of the Meat Free Monday campaign aimed at reducing global emissions by cutting down the amount of meat people consume.

An urgent call to action from Paul McCartney. Pledge support for #MFMclimatepledge HERE: http://t.co/mPzQW0c7Rg http://t.co/IbPueXdTFO

While 800,000 people had signed up to the pledge by the end of the weekend, some on Twitter were slightly disturbed by McCartney's rapping (although we're not sure if it can even be called that), complete with what appears to be a fake Jamaican accent.

although i heartily endorse meat-free mondays, i denounce Paul McCartney rapping

I think I'm actually physically scarred by this.... http://t.co/v3q8pzKaBN It's actually beyond parody....

This is quite high up on my list of things that will not, in any way, impact on the amount of meat people consume http://t.co/s1w9IA6epZ

Headline of the day: 'Sir Paul McCartney has recorded a rap song to encourage people to go vegetarian'

If the goal is to put me off my food, well then Guardian headline, you've done it. http://t.co/dKCVJwurp6

I'm almost too scared to watch the video of Paul McCartney rapping to encourage people to go veggie. How bad is it?

800,000 people already signed the #MeatFreeMonday pledge. Not sure if Paul McCartney rap is a help or hindrance http://t.co/zrl6NpsVtf

Paul McCartney, adopting an 'ethnic' accent to rap about vegetarianism. Why would you want to chew your fist? https://t.co/J9nyD8zBfp

Night all, I'm off to have nightmares about Paul McCartney doing a rap http://t.co/WiSnF6uZyK

That video of Paul McCartney "rapping" makes me want to go back to eating meat

Maybe stick to the classics next time Sir Paul.
