Harrowing Video Launched As Part Of Campaign To End Sexual Violence In Conflict

    The Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict takes place in London next week.

    The Foreign Office has released a powerful video highlighting its ongoing campaign to end sexual violence during periods of conflict.

    The 16-year-old narrator of the clip, entitled "Don't believe the thumbnail, this video is the stuff of nightmares", calls for those responsible to be brought to justice and says it is time to let governments know "enough is enough".

    The animation, produced with creative agency Don’t Panic, has been released a week before the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict takes place in London.

    A social media campaign has also been launched calling for global action, with embassies around the world posting #TimeToAct pictures on Twitter.

    Next week’s summit is the largest-ever gathering on the subject of sexual violence in conflict, with over 145 governments and NGOs taking part.

    HMA Hamish Cowell & Lt Cmdr Mark Redmayne, the commanding officer of HMS Blyth, say it is #TimetoAct.

    The event will focus on agreeing action to remove impunity for the perpetrators of crimes of sexual violence during periods of conflict.

    From Tuesday morning there will be 84 hours of action around the world highlighting the campaign, including illuminating iconic landmarks.
