It's just a small taste of the future: If our parents would have just converted back in the 60's and 70's, metric conversion wouldn't be an issue and we'd be using the same logical system as the rest of the world. Of course, all the stuff we're not bothering with will do more than mildly annoy our children and grandchildren; it'll help guarantee that they curse us every day and piss on our graves when we finally die. Global warming, environmental destruction, insanely huge national debt, and mega-corporation control of the public sphere FTW!
