The horse reared up at Laytown Strand Races in County Meath, Ireland, yesterday, as groom Aidan Wall tried to calm the animal.
Both horse and rider were unhurt, but the horse, could only finish seventh in the Barry Matthews Appreciation Society Handicap, at odds of 14-1.
The picture was taken at the annual race meeting, which has taken place on three-mile stretch of sand at Louth, on Ireland’s east coast, every year since 1901.
