Someone Re-Wrote The First Three "Star Wars" Films In Shakespearean Verse

The Empire Striketh Back is out out now, forsooth.

Do you like like Star Wars but feel it's been lacking a literary edge? Try this re-working of George Lucas's fantasy space epic - all written in Shakespearean iambic pentameter.

The Empire Striketh Back, out on 25 March, is in fact Ian Doescher's second adaptation - Star Wars - A New Hope came out last year.

As if that wasn't enough, Doescher, from Portland, Oregon, is planning to release The Jedi Doth Return in July.

The Shakespearean style works surprisingly well in the Star Wars universe.

This is the famous scrolling intro re-done in iambic pentameter.

This is some classic banter between C-3PO and R2-D2.

And this is Princess Leia's "only you could be so bold" riposte to Darth Vader.

Plus, the promo video from the publisher is very special and features not only Luke Skywalker reenacting a famous soliloquy from Hamlet but Darth Vader in a ruffled collar.
