    Parts of eastern and northern England were devastated by floods on Thursday.

    The UK was treated to extreme weather from Wales to East Anglia and from Kent to Scotland, in what weather experts said could be one of the most powerful storms to hit Europe for years.

    One man in Retford, Nottinghamshire, and a lorry driver in Bathgate, West Lothian have died as a result of weather-related accidents.

    The army was called out to assist emergency services in Norfolk - where 9,000 homes have been evacuated - and more than 100,00 properties were affected by power cuts as winds reached 140mph.

    2. Emergency services were working around the clock to rescue people, here in Rhyl and elsewhere.

    Severe weather warnings were in place all over coastal towns.

    And the extreme weather conditions are continuing into today, according to the Environment Agency.
