Classic scene: You already know. The orgasm enactment in Katz's Deli.

Cool fact: A lot of the Harry-Sally moments (like the scene where they're both watching Casablanca) were actually inspired by real-life interactions between Billy Crystal and Rob Reiner (they're close friends).

2. Moonstruck (1987)

Selling points: Cher and Olympia Dukakis kill it in their respective roles. There's a young Nicolas Cage, which is always good. Oh, and it was nominated for six Oscars.

Classic scene: "Snap out of it!"

Classic quote: "Aw ma, I love him awful." "Oh, God, that's too bad."

Cool fact: The movie was originally called The Bride And The Wolf. Just doesn't have the same ring as Moonstruck.

3. Bull Durham (1988)

Selling points: Way hot scenes between Susan Sarandon and Kevin Costner. #sorrynotsorry. Also, Sports Illustrated ranked it the #1 Greatest Sports Movie of all time.

Classic scenes: The "I believe" speech and the "We're dealing with a lot of shit" scene on the mound.

Classic quotes: "From what I hear, you couldn't hit water if you fell out of a fucking boat!" and "Candlesticks always make a nice gift."

Cool fact: Those extras in the stadium stands? The filmmakers got 'em by going to a Pink Floyd concert and asking the band to invite their audience to the ballpark.

Selling point: Goldie Hawn is incredibly versatile in this cinematic gem: first, she's a wealthy, spoiled woman living it up on a yacht, and then she's a housewife.

Cool fact: The pickup that Kurt Russell's character drove is the same pickup from the beginning of Christmas Vacation.

Selling points: Can't really go wrong with Bruce Willis as the voice of a baby.

Classic scene: The Kirstie Alley and John Travolta dance scene.

Cool fact: This movie is written and directed by Amy Heckerling, who also wrote and directed Clueless.

Selling point: Daryl Hannah is a mermaid. If that's not a selling point, idk what is.

Classic scenes: When Daryl Hannah's character first comes ashore, at the Statue of Liberty, naked. Or when she says her name in her language and breaks a whole bunch of TVs.

Classic quote: "I'm really a nice guy. If I had friends you could ask them."

Cool fact: Remember how Tom Hanks said, "Well Madison's not a name"? Some contend that this movie actually led to the popularity of the name Madison.

7. Say Anything (1989)

Selling points: This movie makes it OK to belt out "In Your Eyes" with no shame. Plus, John Cusack is heartmelting personified.

Classic scene: The boombox scene, of course.

Cool fact: Ione Skye narrowly beat our Elisabeth Shue and Jennifer Connelly to land her role.

8. Working Girl (1988)

Selling points: OK, so technically this is a romantic-comedy-drama, but Sigourney Weaver, Melanie Griffith, and Joan Cusack are nothing short of fantastic. Plus, this film was an Academy Award-nominee for best picture. And can't forget about Carly Simon's "Let The River Run."

Classic scene: When Tess proves the merger was all her.

Classic quote: "I have a head for business and a bod for sin."

Cool fact: Kevin Spacey was brought on as a last-minute replacement and learned his lines on the way to the shoot.

9. Pretty in Pink (1986)

Selling points: Yes, Molly Ringwald is wonderful, but this movie also features Jon Cryer as Duckie and a young James Spader. Also, it has a KILLER soundtrack. "If You Leave," anyone?

Classic scene: Ugh too many, but Duckie lip syncing to Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness" is right up there.

Classic quote: "I just want to let them know that they didn't break me."

Cool fact: OMD wrote that iconic "If You Leave" song in less than 24 hours. Wowza.

10. Romancing the Stone (1984)

Selling points: Does any other movie blend romance, comedy, action, and adventure as perfectly as Romancing The Stone? Nope.

Classic scene: When Joan says Jack isn't a real man, and he's like "Oh yea? Let me cut the head off this snake."

Classic quote: "How will you die Joan Wilder? Slow like a snail or fast like a shooting star?"

Thing you may not know: Kathleen Turner tried to back out of the Romancing the Stone sequel, The Jewel of the Nile, but Fox filed a $25 million lawsuit against her. At least the movie turned out all right.

11. Baby Boom (1987)

Selling points: Diane Keaton straight up delivers as a woman trying to tackle the work-baby balance. She can pull off derailing just as well as she can pull off succeeding. And don't forget about Sam Shepard as the veterinarian.

Classic scene: Diane Keaton's breakdown. She can do "spastic, distressed woman in the midst of an emotional upheaval" like nobody's business.

Classic quote: "I just want to turn on the faucet and have water! I don't want to know where it's coming from!"

Cool fact: That beyond adorable baby was played by twins! Kinda like an MK&A thing.

12. Mystic Pizza (1988)

The Samuel Goldwyn Company

Selling points: Another one that overlaps with the drama category, but it definitely deserves a spot on this list. It has a young Julia Roberts, of course, but also Vincent D’Onofrio (aka that guy from Law and Order: Criminal Intent) and Matt Damon in his first speaking role. Plus, this coming-of-age movie has some great commentary on sisterhood, relationships, class, race, and all that jazz.

Classic scene: The hitchhiking scene FOR SURE.

Classic quote: "And you don't monkey with tradition!"

Cool fact: Vincent D'Onofrio almost tried to get out of doing this film, but when he did a cast read-through and met those three talented ladies, he changed his mind.

13. The Princess Bride (1987)

Selling points: While Robin Wright could sell herself, this movie has SO much going for it: romance, one-liners that are pure gold, and a whole fantasy/adventure thing happening. An '80s movie more perfect than The Princess Bride? Inconceivable! If you think such a thing exists, why, you may just be a warthog-faced buffoon.

Classic scene: So many that you can't choose just one, but the mawwiage scene is always fun.

Classic quotes: Well, pretty much everything because this is one of the most quotable movies ever, but "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means" and "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." are solid ones. And "Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while."

Cool fact: Robin Wright required pretty much no coaching for her accent because she perfected it by listening to her father, who's British.

14. Sixteen Candles (1984)

Selling points: This movie is a classic. Plain and simple.

Classic scenes: Let's talk about the ending and also Long Duk Dong drunk as a skunk.

Classic quotes: "What's happening, hot stuff?" and "Can I borrow your underpants for 10 minutes?"

Selling points: Though the premise is pretty ridiculous, this movie just works. And Steve Martin is his usual hilarious self here.

Classic scene: When Steve Martin's character comes up with 20 insults better than "big nose." "Laugh and the world laughs with you. Sneeze, and it's goodbye, Seattle!"

Classic quote: "You know, it's not the size of a nose that's important. It's what's in it that matters."

Cool fact: Steve Martin actually adapted this from an 1897 play, Cyrano de Bergerac. (Hence, C.D.)

16. Valley Girl (1983)

Selling points: Oh hey, young Nicolas Cage. Also, this movie has that classic Valley-Girl dialogue, which is amusing in its awfulness.

Classic scene: Nicolas Cage's character putting the moves on (and stealing a kiss from) Deborah Foreman's.

Classic quote: "Fuck off. For sure. Like totally."

Cool fact: Nicolas Cage had to shave his chest hair for the film so that he would look younger. For real.
