Two Men Detained In Dramatic Search Just Metres From Obama's G20 Hotel

Both were stopped and had their bags emptied and shoes taken off after the U.S. President's motorcade exited the Marriott Hotel.

Two men have been detained and searched by more than a dozen heavily armed police officers just 100 metres from the fortified hotel of U.S. President Barack Obama.

In the hour long operation, officers discovered large amounts of foreign cash and electronic devices on the final day of the G20 summit. BuzzFeed News can reveal hotel staff alerted police to the men after Obama's motorcade exited the nearby Marriott Hotel.

Dozens of police officers and hotel staff would not comment on the record and one AAP news photographer was officially cautioned for "obstructing justice".

The dramatic search operation represents the latest in a series of heavy-handed tactics surrounding the G20 summit in Brisbane.

There have been more than a dozen arrests over the last few days with no real threat presented to any of the visiting world leaders.

BuzzFeed News has contacted Queensland Police Media and hotel staff for comment.
