Melbourne Schoolboy Reportedly Identified As Britain's "White Jihadi"

    "Jihadi Jake".

The ISIS fighter dubbed Britain's "white jihadi" has reportedly been identified as an 18-year-old Australian named "Jake" who was a talented maths student from Melbourne.

Fairfax Media reports "Jake" who appeared flanked by ISIS fighters in images circulated at the end of last year, was from a non-Muslim family from Melbourne's suburbs.

The Daily Mail had previously dubbed the 18-year-old "Britain's white jihadi" and said his recruitment was a "coup" for ISIS fighters in Syria and Iraq.

The report also reveals "Jake" was part of an accelerated program at Craigieburn Secondary College for talented students but dropped out last year and bought a one-way ticket to Istanbul.

Fairfax report also revealed he "quietly" converted to Islam at age 16 and was recruited through an online forum tied to ISIS. He reportedly goes by the name, Abdur Raheem or Abu Abdullah.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton did not confirm the teenager's identity in an interview on Sky News on Monday morning, only citing the internet as a major cause in radicalising young Australians.

"We know there are 100s of Australians who have engaged in this sort of activity overseas, so they have gone off to fight in Syria, they have decided to stay on our shores and potentially do us harm here," he said.

Mr Dutton praised agencies last week who stopped and detained two teenagers aged 16 and 17 at Sydney Airport who counter-terrorism officials said were bound to leave Australia without their parents.
