  • Colin O is obviously not a musician and this article went waaaaay over his head. The point of the video was to show how a lot of hits are the same recycled chord progressions. CGAmF can be changed to any other key (like DABmG) and when you look at all of these songs, you see that they are all the same base progressions with slightly different melodies. To say “All Music Is The Same 4 Chords” is hyperbolic; most thinking humans don't actually think the author intended that statement to be interpreted as a fact. The exaggeration simply underscores the point of the article, and I think the whole thing was very very well done.

  • First off, not all those songs are good in my opinion. I haven't even heard of a few of those. More importantly, even if those were the same four chords for two lines of those songs, there's the rest of the song, and that was only a handful of songs. There is ABSOLUTELY no way you can make this claim that “All music is the same four chords” unless you have analyzed the sheet music of every song in existance, including music before 1900 which uses many different chords.

  • Hahaha, what? No. It isn't. Unless you quantify “greatest” as “being about Australia.” Dude, you know music's been around for more than 20 years, right?

  • Jordan Fine: Some of those songs are good. Down Under is one of the greatest songs of all time. Ever. So, you can just eat my ass.

  • Those are all…every single one of them…terrible terrible songs. Every one. If those are examples of people's favourite music, then good lord western music is doomed.

  • it works in any key, as this video traverses many keys. C G Am F works just as well as E B C#m A
