**to calm you down
It’s totally normal for breastfeeding to hurt for the first couple weeks - arm yourself with a lot of lanolin and soft pads for your bras to combat leaking (I suggest bamboobies) because the throw away ones will feel like fiber glass on your nipples if they are at all raw! Also- relax. Breastfeeding is hard and that’s ok- try it as best you can but if you find it isn’t the right fit for you then stop - a happy non breastfeeding mom is better than a miserable mess of a mom who is breastfeeding. Also, find someone you can talk to about all your questions - your hormonal self may freak out a bit and you may need someone with experience and knowledge you calm you down. Talking to my mom’s friend who was also a midwife saved me !
Yes! I wish this was said more often. Between the misinformation and my hormones I was totally freaking out about the fact that breastfeeding hurt - and I mean hurt! In the end after a lot of lanolin, time, and a few people telling me my daughter was latching on just fine I finally realized that all those people who tell you that something is wrong if breastfeeding hurts are lying!!!
Apparently the rice crispy treat cereal is still available … at walmart.
