Lykke Li’s redo of Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs” makes a new beast out of the old classic. Li turns the slow-build swell of Fleetwood Mac’s chorus into a reverb-soaked, distant affair, creating a mood built from that isolation. In her hands, the chorus aches and throbs in a differently effective way than the original. It’s claustrophobic, concise, and very lovely.
The track will be included on Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute To Fleetwood Mac, which will also feature takes on Fleetwood songs by MGMT, Best Coast, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and the New Pornographers.
