It’s actually hit and miss, they still have some good episodes, but they’re not as frequent. Futurama is overall better though, it’s been theorized that Matt Groening was pissed at Fox canceling Futurama originally so he made The Simpsons suck more.

To the real life threats, post any sort of video on youtube that recieves over 100k views, unless you’re the host of a children’s show you’re probably going to get some hate mail with death threats. That’s the way the internet is, you’re not anonymous, there are crazy people out there. To Bruiser, the thing is that the stereotype is popular, in popular games, that’s about it. You don’t see it in games that don’t get as much attention, huh I wonder why. Lara Craft became popular not because she was a woman, but because of her boobs and her sexualization. The game sold 4.63 million copies, you know how many copies Wild Arms 3 with a strong female protagonist who wasn’t sexualized sold? .63 million. You know how many copies of a game with no plot line, bad gameplay and sexualized women sold aka DoA Beach Volleyball? .6m copies. If anyone should be mad, it should be men since Videogame publishers are just exploiting them. I mean really what right do women actually have to be mad if they’re not the target market? It’s like if they complained that the Ax ball scrubber wasn’t feminine enough. Also I do think that women have a place in gaming, but the problem is more that guys just eat that shit up.

Most of Sega’s games aren’t… I was giving you an example of a franchise that actually had strong female protagonists. Lots of games didn’t even have to do with sexism or concepts even remotely close to it, hell Sonic was about saving the fuzzy woodland creatures from Dr. Robotnic. Amy Rose was added to the series way later to try to appeal to a bigger fan base (though she wasn’t in need of rescue, she was just chasing Sonic..) The point I was trying to make is that this “sexism” only happens in certain games and isn’t as widespread as this video seems to make a point about. Also what’s the point of complaining about sexism in Video games anyhow, video game companies just care about what sells. It’s like sex in advertising, year after year it seems to be successful why would they change their recipe? Either way I play video games to have fun, pretty much everything I play (excluding online games) don’t seem to have any of the things she’s complaining about.

It’s stupid that she disabled comments and ratings. Also as for games with stereotypical gender roles, I grew up on Sega, not Nintendo. A lot of the females were strong in games I played, maybe not the main protagonist most of the time, but they weren’t “push overs”. Alys from Phantasy Star IV was by far the best example of this, she was not only a mentor to the main character but took a death blow for him. That I have to say is still one of the saddest scenes from any video game I’ve ever played. (And hey the original Phantasy Star had a “Alis” as a protagonist, I always wondered if that was coincidence or not.)

There’s a big difference there, drinking can halt brain development, your brain doesn’t stop completely developing until your mid 20s. Social networks don’t actually prevent anything from happening, as far as I can see it you’re entering them into a community that they’ll probably be a part of years later regardless. While I can see how you’re making the link, they’re there for two different reasons.

See, I don’t get why this has to be a “hate crime” hate implies that there is some membership in a group that they’re part of in this case gay. Why can’t they just hate them because they don’t like the two radio show hosts in general? Or maybe they say stupid things on the radio or maybe even insensitive things that offend people? I don’t know from the sounds of it there’s nothing that identifies this in particular as being because they were gay. MLK did say “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Maybe though I’m an idealist.

The Gorillaz one was incredibly inaccurate and the xx one sounded more like a parody of 80s alt culture like a song by Echo and the Bunnymen.
