2. Using a secret feature, you can write in black and white.

 

To get a black pencil, hold down on the rainbow toolbar and drag your finger to the left, then all the way down to the bottom.
To get white, hold down on the rainbow toolbar and drag straight to the left.

3. Snapchat was originally called Picaboo.

A press release for Picaboo from 2011 semi-offensively describes it as an app for college girls: “Show off that fabulous pair of Jimmy Choos or catch your best gay finally cuddling up with that straight guy at a party!”

4. 70% of Snapchat users are women.

5. Snapchat has filters now.

6. Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel reportedly dated Taylor Swift earlier this year.

7. There’s apparently a version of Snapchat for kids under age 13 called SnapKidz.

It lets you take snaps and draw on them, but doesn’t allow for sharing with friends.

8. Only 2% of college students use Snapchat to send sexts.

Co-founders Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy rejected that offer. A few weeks later, Mark Zuckerberg returned with a $3 billion offer, which Snapchat again rejected.

10. 46% of the class of 2014 say they use Snapchat daily.

11. A venture capital firm provided $485,000 of seed funding to Snapchat in 2012 after one of the partners found that the three most popular apps in his daughter’s high school class were Angry Birds, Instagram, and Snapchat.

Since then, Snapchat has raised $143 million in funding.
