This is fucking AWESOME! I wish I could dance. This also made me realize that I’d been missing Missy Elliott.
Response to 14 People Reveal Why They Hate Being Naked:
This is a very interesting post. I mean, I’m very desensitized to nudity (thanks, life drawing class? *shrugs*) and I’d never really considered people being uncomfortable being naked on their own. Which is pretty ignorant of me, I realize.
Oh my god, I hadn’t seen a recent photo of Paul Gross… HIS HAIR. Seeing as I remember him for Men with Brooms and Due South (please, tell me someone else remembers Due South), the white hair is a dramatic change for me to see.
A few months back, I was filling my car up at the gas station when a man with his wife pulled into the gas pump across from me. The passenger window had been broken completely. The woman got out and opened the back door to check on her daughter. The man saw me getting my receipt, and he said something to his wife before asking me if I could help them somehow. They’d been robbed a few miles away and still had about thirty miles to go to get home, and they were out of gas. The woman, crying, mentioned that the people who broke into their car even stole their daughter’s diaper bag. I didn’t have any cash, but I went over to their gas pump, ran my gas card, punched in my zip code to authorize the purchase, and I told them to fill their tank. They both thanked me, the man almost crying, and promised that they would pay it forward.
Please, please, please make more posts like this. Little things sometimes mean more to that person helped or spoken to than a grand gesture. I was paying for a Coke at the pharmacy, and an old man with these cool, black, round-framed glasses got in line behind me and set his box of ice cream on the counter. I made a comment that I should have grabbed a box of my own, and he smiled and said:
“I’ve been addicted to these since I was your age, and I’m 73.”
I said, “I’m 29.”
He paused, looked me over, and said, “You look it.” I’m constantly mistaken for a teenager, and it felt so good to hear that instead of: “you’ll appreciate how young you look when you’re older.” I told him that he just made my day, and he said to me:
“I just thought you’re probably sick of always getting carded.” It may sound trivial, but it honestly did make my day. I wanted to hug him.
