Times Of India Chose To Celebrate Women's Day By Publishing This Reeeally Sexist Joke

It's International Women's Day and India's most popular English daily Times of India chose to celebrate it by printing a completely inappropriate "SMS joke."

Times of India staying classy on #InternationalWomensDay.

The joke appeared in the Kolkata edition of the newspaper and can be seen in the e-paper here.

The internet made sure to call out TOI for the ridiculously sexist jab at women.

And @timesofindia decides to honour women on #InternationalWomensDay with a sexist joke! :MT "@natselrox:” #Facepalm

Not that sexism is any more acceptable any other day of the year, but it's especially ironic today.

This isn't TOI's first time. The paper came under fire for a misogynistic piece last year when Bollywood star Deepika Padukone put them on blast for objectifying her without her consent.

And especially, ESPECIALLY ironic, considering this pledge about respecting and not discriminating against women appeared in TOI once, as part of a campaign.

The following may have been the collective reaction to the paper's crass attempt at humour on a very important day for women.
