“…she traveled to Vietnam to experience firsthand what the men of her generation were experiencing, eventually earning her the moniker of ‘Hanoi Jane.’” This is at best the work of someone with stunning ignorance of what Jane Fonda did in Vietnam/went to Vietnam for and at worst a willful whitewashing of her history. Fonda didn’t go to Vietnam to understand our soldiers. She went to (ostensibly) understand the enemy. While there she made propaganda broadcasts for the enemies, called POWs who claimed they were being tortured liars and sang songs to boost the moral of North Vietnamese troops. The only American troops she visited to “understand” were ones she called “military careerists and professional killers” who were lying about being tortured while in Vietnamese prison camps.
