debbycoilec 4 months agoI’ve done no. 4 before. Now I just avoid taking the bus. The last one is something I’ve done too on more than one occasion. I therefore end up only going to the doctor once I’ve accumulated a whole list of reasons for being there, which has got to be annoying to my GP because as soon as we get finished discussing one problem, I refer to the next item on my list. How can *anyone* be ‘neither here nor there’ on the subject of Marmite? Is that even possible?

Sheisawesome10 4 months agoThese things mainly happen if you’re in the south, too. I’m from South Carolina and all these apply to me. Southern hospitality ;)

robyngreent 4 months agoMuch of this shame-filled lifestyle also applies in the south. Being overly polite is drilled into you from birth. Yes mam, thank you sir, I’m sorry (when there’s no reason to be)… We’re not all honey boo boo.

tobyyoung63 5 months agoHad a look at Reddit and quite a few are very very true sadly: 1. I booked a taxi for 9.15 and it turned up at 9.05; I had to rush to avoid keeping the taxi driver waiting 2. I slowed down on the motorway because I saw a car with lights on top, but it was only a Highways Agency car so I needn’t have bothered. 3. My spellcheck is American, so I have to put up with squiggly lines under words like ‘apologise’ and ‘globalisation’. 4. My taxi driver is talkative. I can’t put my headphones on or I’ll seem rude. 5. At least one of my parents generally disapproves of each action I take in life, but I think they’re still upset about Princess Di, so I let them off. 6. Someone held the door open for me when I was too far away, so I had to run as I didn’t want to make them wait. 7. I am a prisoner in my own home until my amazon order arrives with royal mail. 8. Somebody offered me a cup of tea and I forgot to reply with “Only if you’re having one” and instead just said “Yes”. They weren’t having one and now I feel bad.

Sally P. 5 months agoI’m Australian, and now I feel rude because if someone is looking at the section of the supermarket I want to look at, I just say ‘excuse me’ and pop in in front of them, you never know how long they’re going to be, and they don’t seem to care. I don’t mind when people do it to me either.

barbarellab 4 months agoI´m German (but lived in London 20 years) and I do the same! I don´t like people wasting my time for no bloody reason!

barbarellab 4 months agoIt doesn´t happen in Germany, they´re very pushy there (which, even as a German, I find really annoying).

teresachinnock 5 months agoLol! Nothing wrong with being apologetic but when you hear the above comments some DO sound ridiculous for sure! I’ve seen lots of ppl apologise for not smoking when asked for a light, never thought of it like that b4 though…so funny!!!

Dariana 5 months agoAnother American expat in the UK. Mini-roundabouts are so friggin’ awful. Why England can’t have four way stops, I don’t know. (For those who don’t know, the rule at a roundabout is yield to the right. If someone LOOKS like they might start driving into the roundabout from your right, you wait…but then there’s someone on their right too…)

barbarellab 4 months agoWhereas when you live in Lanzarote/Spain (where I live now since 2004) drivers who are on the actual roundabout hardly ever signal where they are coming off, so you could just sit there waiting forever, or take your chances and just *go*… ;)

PauperPrincess 5 months agoYou are correct — I have no idea what that Marmite one was about.
