Politics Buzz Remember Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher? Unfortunately, so do the good folks at Christianity Today, who decided to let him announce that he would never let “queers” near his children. Furthermore, he claims to have gay friends who, despite his opinions, are going to “do their thing.” Wurzelbacher, however, declined to specify whether “their thing” included “eating children.”

I can't stand this moron..and yet I find him immensely entertaining. I mean, he's a gigantic ignorant jackass who stood in a throng of people to ask Obama a question based on a false premise and then extended that one lie into a whole string of 'em concerning his career, his past, his finances…and less than a year later he has his own PAC, hundreds of hours more national media attention than any of a few hundred million more interesting people will ever get, and the hard/Christian right is still listening raptly for his next pronouncement. And he's totally serious about it all; he doesn't seem to have any capacity for self-reflection or ability to wonder if he's embarrassing himself. It's all so…amusingly surreal, like watching a not-too-bright drunk acquaintance strutting around a bar trying to convince every woman he meets that he designed the space shuttle, but gave up his career as a brilliant engineer to become a war hero. He is, in other words, a stunningly vivid portrait of a modern jackass at the height of his jackassery. And really, how can that NOT be fun to watch?
