I think society has a body image problem, and I think it’s unhealthy to deny that women come in all kinds of shapes and sizes.. But I also think that a majority of ‘big’ people is way too fat and unhealthy by their own (or their parents’) doing and we shouldn’t just say “It’s okay to be overweight, just accept yourself for who you are”, because that just isn’t true. I think we should accept that people have all kinds of different bodytypes, and that that’s more than fine. But we should also stress that it is NOT okay to become morbidly obese and you have to take responsibility for your own health when you’re living a way too unhealthy lifestyle. And if somebody genuinely thinks you’re pregnant and asks you about it, I don’t think that’s rude. I had people genuinely ask me if I had an eating disorder because I used to be very skinny… That didn’t really bother me, because I knew they were genuinely concerned and I couldn’t help being the way I was. I probably would have been offended if I had had an eating disorder, because I would’ve felt confronted with an inconvenient truth. If you’re convinced you’re doing everything right, or if you’ve decided that you’re not going to do antything about your lifestyle: Accept how you look, and fuck the world. And keep in mind that everybody has insecurities, and that -no matter how you look- there’s always going to be people who will criticise your looks or won’t find you attractive. I agree with this post when it comes to people being unnecessarily rude, but I also think that if you’re offended because there’s a truth in it.. You might need to hear those things more often.
