iand7 3 months agolooks like you have to get someone pretty stoned to prove what a menace marijuana is on the roads. i think the anti-marijuana fanatics would be extremely embarrassed if you included someone at ten times the legal alcohol limit for comparison. and as usual there is the attempt to beat up the conclusions beyond what the evidence supports - despite the assertions that these drivers would be obviously worse on real roads, the fact is that they are testing in an unfamilar and atypical driving environment, which you would expect to be more difficult given that stoned people are notorious for having trouble with novel situations. i’m not saying that even slightly stoned people should be allowed to drive, but the first step of the discussion is accepting that people with an axe to grind are perfectly capable of making conclusions that are precisely the reverse of what the evidence allows

Sorry but driving a course made of cones and driving on a road with lines and lights are two different things. Every day a family gets wiped out by an a-hole post six pack and alcohol is celebrated in this country. I could smoke a quarter and drive an eighteen wheeler in reverse through Manhattan but.

spikeg 3 months agoI don’t think anyone disputes that alcohol is an intoxicant that no one should drive under. It is fairly annoying when stoners say “Getting high makes me drive better!”. Yes, you’re not as bad as a guy after a six pack or someone on two Xanax, but the video clearly shows all three of the people by the end were intoxicated, driving unsafely by any measure, and admitted they should not be on the road.

I don’t smoke weed but if I did i would be fine. I never said I drive better stoned, I was saying that it really doesn’t make much of a difference. Taking a driving test in a course made of cones high or not sucks. Every fake driving lane blends in with the next one whereas driving on a regular road with painted lines and whatnot is much much easier and doesn’t play tricks on your perceptions. Obviously they cant have them on camera being tested out in live traffic but they need to do better than an empty parking lot filled with orange cones to have me convinced.
