When The Dark Knight Rises teaser came out in 2011, the number one complaint was the inability to understand Bane’s dialogue. Between then and the release of the movie this year, Tom Hardy re-recorded every line and the difference is exceptionally noticeable.
The only downside is on occasion the new voiceovers make Bane sound too cartoony for Nolan’s world. But if it means not having to replay scenes over and over to understand Bane, it’s well worth the cost of momentary lapses in suspension of disbelief.

MissDagger 9 months agoWhile sometime difficult to understand, I still felt Tom Hardy t forth a stellar performance with his voice since he only had the use of half of his face to convey his emotions. What a great performance!

histrionics 9 months agoThe fact that he sounded so much like Sean Connery to me kept me amused when I was getting exasperated that I couldn’t understand half the shit he was saying. Judging by the whispers in the theater, most people couldn’t.

Micronaut Girl 9 months agoMUCH prefer the after voice. So much better. Even if it seems a bit obviously dubbed. And one of my favorite lines of Bane’s from the movie was ‘It would be extremely painful….for you’. And he said it with more ‘accent’ ‘swagger’ whatever you want to call it in the the second take :D so i’m down with the improvements *thumbs up Tom Hardy*
