Likely they're wallabies, not kangaroos, which don't get to be quite as big. I saw one on the beach in South Padre Island, TX once. I want. $3k or so will nab you one.

don't get me wrong, it's cute as hell, but i think keeping pets like kangaroos is such a douchewad move. it's one of those pets that you could only feasibly keep for a couple months while it's cute and small and then would have to get rid of because you can't have a teenager-sized pet hopping around the house.

Not sure where this is, but in Australia it is generally not permitted to keep kangaroos as pets. It may be a wildlife reserve or a native parkland, but note the collars and tags.
