Austin Found a year agoPeople don’t give kids enough credit. These kids know what they are saying. I don’t get the feeling that some adults put them up to this and the kids disagree with the message. They aren’t protesting import tariffs or cap and trade. They are making a statement that’s very simple and it reflects their actual concerns.

BlueSerenade a year agoWell I have mastered the art of threading my comments as to not clutter up the message board and not look like a 13 year old with their first computer. America is great and I don’t want to be anywhere else. But this case and the way this has been handled is flawed because its simple stereotyping. A woman wearing a short skirt doesn’t deserve to be raped just as a kid wearing a hoodie doesn’t deserve to be shot. Race doesn’t even play a role, it’s simple matter of people judging a book by their cover. But I know Mr. Big Man behind his keyboard who wants to exile people who disagree with him is going to say I’m wrong and un-American and have some patronizing, dehumanizing response, so I’m not even going to deign to respond to any further comments of his. Lets just hope this kid get the justice he so deserves.

I religiously wear a hoodie, with the hood up pretty often. This must mean I’m asking for trouble. Forget the fact that I’m 25, I have a degree, I’m halfway finished with my master’s degree, I’m a future honor society member with a full time job and a productive member of society. My hood’s up. I’m asking for trouble. I see how you work, America.

kyrski a year agoi didn’t call you a racist, i just said you’re reinforcing stereotypes. it’s just like saying that girl who wears a miniskirt deserves to get raped. i’m sorry but the way someone dresses does not mean they deserve or are asking for death or physical harm/trauma. there needs to be a shift in the mentality of our nation.
