39 WTF Thoughts You Had While Watching: "Gotham"

Season 1, Episode 13: "Welcome Back, Jim Gordon"

•Fish seems to really like being tied up, which is the Fishiest possible response to being kidnapped and maybe tortured.

•"I don't got a thing for nobody — my thing is for me." Self-love is so important these days, don't you think?

•Is that the jock cop from last episode? Every non-main character just looks like kind of potato-ish.

•I THINK IT IS. It's jock cop. Jock Cop, MD.

•And Jim just found some...Candyland cards in the dead guy's shoe. How did he know to look in there?

    •I think it's Heisenberg meth.

•An elderly black janitor just materialized, mentioned his loving wife by name, and said something folksy. He is already dead.

•There has never been one good riddle on this show. It's all unsolveable high school poetry.

•"Is Bob short for Robert?" No Fish, it's short for Horace. Get it together.

•Fish gets hit harder than that on a recreational basis, Bob, put your back into it.

•Bob looks like the guy your sister dates right before she finds her actual fiancé and boy, are your parents relieved.

•Theory: Butch is the Hagrid to Fish's Harry. Big, hulking, probably a lil hairy, saves her because ~family~

•"You need concrete evidence to even THINK of accusing another officer of murder," says the Captain of Gotham PD. Unlike arresting the mayor, which you can just do all the time when you're bored

•Bruce is back! And Alfred, an adult man, just said that Ivy, a little girl, has mange. The first thing that came to my mind is "that's racist" but not..really?

•Hahaha a Fish in a plastic bag. Just like at the carnival!

•The look on Butch's face when he sees Fish is alright is absolutely precious. Butchie boy. What a guy.

•"Give me an angle," says Jim during his second rockin' interrogation montage, when he really should just let Harvey do it. Harvey is Jim's older brother who beats video game levels for him.

•Did Jim just do the Christian Bale Batman voice? Is that where Bruce learns it?

•The Gotham PD parking garage is the most ominous place in the city, and we've seen three separate murder dungeons. It looks like it was lit by Smashing Pumpkins.

•Butch has Fish "recovering" in a snakeskin dress and a push-up bra. OK.

•Penguin mom is back! Penguina, my darling!

•"My boy has a club." The immigrant story.

•The crime syndicate is called The Uptown Assassins. I think I saw the Uptown Assassins open for Mick Jagger in '88.

•Telling Jim Gordon to move on to the next case is an actual guarantee that he's going to doggedly pursue this exact case in the only way he knows how. Roguishly. Handsomely. Poorly.

•Why is Kringle always hanging out with bullshit cops? Is she catnip for bullshit cops?

•Victor. Oh, Victor. My baby boy. My lovely baby boy, who scares me.

Gotham: A fun montage of Penguin doing very little in a punk rock fashion.

•"What kind of weirdo plays chess with himself" - a child wearing goggles

•How on earth is a twelve year old commitment phobic? This is very adult conversation they're having.

•Victor's reflexes are like godDAMN. That motherfucker just dodged a bullet!

•Nygma is surgically removing the onions from his takeout and I have never related to a character more in my entire life.

•How often do you think Alfred has a lover upstairs? Do you think it's every time?

•"Love is fake and your parents are dead." - basically Alfred.

    •Prime Robin Lord-Taylor Tweet:

•Jock Cop is back and Jim is monologuing: "Either way I'm doing my duty."

•Harvey and Fish are the real ship here. Bullfish! Bullfish for life!

•Oh my god are they going to kiss?

    •YES THEY KISSED! Yaasss!

•"Be good," says Harvey. "Always," says Fish, a woman who has murdered a person on screen at least every other time she shows up. True love <3
