Whelp, turnabout is fair play?

Interesting strategy for a campaign targeting gays. I’m assuming the ads wont be running in Field & Stream or Good Housekeeping.

As a straight man living in New York City, I find the ads mildly amusing, but I’m not the target.

      I have to say though… gays can do a pretty good job of even making awesome people feel frumpy around them. Just the other day my boyfriend and I ordered drinks at a gay coffee bar, the guy literally served the ten people behind us before he even started on our drinks, and when our order finally came up they only had HIS drink (he’s hot, gays faun all over him), it took five more minutes for me to get mine! We’re not even, exactly, a straight couple, I’m a tgirl (not that anyone can really tell but even if I was a genetic girl we don’t deserve bad service just for being different…) feelsbadman.jpg

      i just don’t really understand these ads. i feel that if advertisement companies portrayed gay couples like they do straight couples, it would be more effective. like, an ad for food showing a man making dinner for his husband and children in a way that doesn’t make a point to emphasize that they are a gay couple. it’s obvious so there’s no need to become over the top with it. if there was more of a normal light shed on the gay community then maybe people will begin to realize that is exactly what they are… normal people. i guess what i’m saying is that this ad kind of promotes the idea that these groups are very different from each other when i think the more important objective is to show the exact opposite.

      Okay, satire aside, stereotypes aside, all the drama aside, the Photoshopping on these pictures BLOWS. For crying out loud, the ‘straight’ woman in the first picture doesn’t have a shadow and seems to be hovering, whereas the man next to her has a shadow and appears firmly planted upon the earth… I mean REALLY, did anyone LOOK at these before printing them in magazines/billboards?       I was the casting director for this campaign and the intent was NEVER to make fun of ‘straight’ people. All ‘straights’ cast in this campaign were totally DOWN with being supportive of the gay community. I have never felt a need for ‘hetero’ approval but am always happiest when people get along in general. It would be my hope someday to cast for ALL body types, colors, GLBT inclusive in the end. I will say whoever wrote the ‘tags’ making fun of the ‘straights’ was not part of this campaign. I am a gay man and am not down with making fun of anyone. Of course I understand the ‘anger’ some may feel as I am sure they may be coming from a place of having been laughed at-! Best regards, Doug Mangskau

      (As a lesbian) It makes it seem as though it’s straight couples going into places only gay people go to… which is weird to me, not judging those people, but what’s the motivation there? Even if most of the world was gay, you’d only know it if everyone was paired up. If they’re trying to target gays all they had to do was put up gay bar/show/venue advertisements.

      If it’s actually targeted towards actual lesbians, you might wanna make it look like these girls are actually that.

        Fuck me, I laughed pretty hard at that one, Irishgirl06… As if this;  “Expecting your lifestyle, which brings no harm to anyone and is really, none of your goddamned business, to be respected.” is part of some sinister agenda. What’s that make the “straight agenda”? Because it’s the opposite right? Oppression? Banning of all things that are icky to me? Ship all them gays to their own island because we’re self-conscious closet-curious assholes who can’t come to grips with the complexities of our own sexuality, much less the sexuality of someone else? Also, the idea that just because you feel a certain way about something automatically means your resulting opinion about it is in any way valid. When I feel the wind here in my hometown bringing the already freezing -32 degrees (celsius) down to -41, it makes me feel like The Hammer of God (God’s penis) is pissing liquid nitrogen directly onto my face. That’s a feeling, that can’t be formed into a coherent opinion, much like how that feeling homophobes get of being grossed out by homosexuality can’t be formed into a coherent anti-homosexual “opinion”. It can only be formed into cancerous hate and distrust, filling communities idiotic discord.

You don’t have to accept something you don’t like, and no one really cares if you think it’s okay to be gay or not.
