how do you feel about woody & soon-yi
ugh whatever. stop wearing peasant tops and anything that looks remotely like a sari. crosses too if you are not christian (and double bad if its upside down. shame on you for appropriating that!) stop buying buddhas and elephant figurines that are in fashion due to their cultural and religious popularity in east asia. definitely stop celebrating st. patricks day if you are not irish (and if you are you should stop because that day does not mean what you think it means). stop wearing berets and stop with the cowboy boots. also stop thinking that you know everything there is to know about what is / isn’t offensive to a whole culture of people because you’ve read one blog and took a theory class at your liberal arts college. as one chief commented when asked if the redskins should be forced to change their name he replied “i don’t really care. we have a lot more problems on our reservation with meth and alcohol to care about a team’s name.” i think the same feelings would be had towards SoCal bro’s donning fake headdresses.
actually you are still the dumb one. turns out a statement made by one woman wasn’t *shockingly* an over-arching statement about all women.
i liked this but two things.
1. Meredith grey is not a real surgeon, she is a character on a tv show. that’s like saying there are famous writers that are female— like Carrie Bradshaw! Eleanor Davies-Colley is a real female surgeon and one of the first at that!
2. Marie Curie is a name, not two separate words.
because Rolling Stone has been, and will continue to be, something much larger than a “music magazine”. a simple google image search would show you that since its inception actors have graced the cover of rolling stone. Not to mention that one of PSH most pivotal roles was that of a rolling stone reporter.
who let their 13 year old brother on the internet again?
#5 is so misleading. A. her comment was meant to be in jest, as in “ladies these dudes are smart, if you’re looking to marry, these are some true gems!” and B. if you know anything about “Lean in” and Sheryl Sandberg you would know that her whole view is to get women to worry more about being aggressive in the workplace.
all of the last season should have been last. it was the worst.
i hate these kinds of posts. there is just one sign that shows you studied ______ in college and that is YOUR DEGREE.
Does she really have an iphone cover of herself? oh lord.
not really, i loved my 2nd grade self!
i get that buzzfeed is trying to integrate Buzzfeed UK and Buzzfeed US together (well, just UK contributor kimberly dadds no doubt to garner more views) however all these posts have one thing in common: lost in translation to american audiences. save for like 4 women on this list, these celebrities have no importance to US viewers.
I don’t think it’s fair to include Gabourey Sidibe in this list. Yes her character is “human voodoo doll” but everyone on that show is fucked up. the down syndrome girl is clairvoyant and appears crazy to public (should we be offended by that?); and the 2 white girls are crazed blackwidows— one obsessed with bringing back a guy she met once to be her boyfriend and another who enjoys killing boys who wrong them (because white girls just care about BoYs~*) don’t get me wrong; the show is amazing. but if we want we can boil them all down to terrible stereotypes and one dimensional characters.
not that this is the norm, I know many others are put through worse than him but this article makes it sound like it’s not that bad— he went from living in pretty shitty circumstances to getting full healthcare, house in frankfurt (germany is beautiful), and a chance to live a life clear of his crappy past.
banksy’s work is on public space meaning that it shouldn’t be treated as precious— its art the lives within the space of the audience. that’s the beauty of the graffiti art movement— no museum, no protection, no ego.
i’m into this except for the line “Price said the series is a way for her to explore her fascination with street harassment.” how pretentious. because harassment is SoOo fascinating
#2 pretty sure the term is “2nd rate”, sorry sarah ho.
can you point me to something that shows this? i can’t seem to find any correlation online between the two blogs.
that is terrible of BiologyOnline but are they affiliated with Scientific American? otherwise, I don’t see how Scientific American is in the wrong—- it was not about science, it was a complaint against another blog. there should be avenues made available for her to express herself but i do not think that Scientific American were unjust in their actions.
i’m straight and married actually, just an ally.
i actually get really annoyed when i see posts like this. yes of course these issues are definitely important but these all stem from the same issue— that our nation does not see homosexuals as equals (hence the violence, the family unrest, the inability to access healthcare that straight people who marry can access, green cards, taxbreaks, etc). Countries that allow homosexuals to marry have lower instances of the aforementioned problems too. it isn’t just about having a lawful, conventional relationship; it’s about having equality in the national public eye. please stop downplaying the importance of marriage equality i think it is extremely detrimental to LGBTQ rights as a whole. after all, it wasn’t just about a bus seat and it wasn’t just about a water fountain.
If she starts putting her hair over her ear, THAT MEANS SHE WANTS A KISS. LOL this sounds like advice from a middle school locker room.
new body, new british accent? girl, don’t turn into madonna
“trans people don’t want this. wealthy benefactors do” despite the fact that the wealthy benefactor is also a transgender woman. Also is he really espousing that transpeople continue to be excluded from open military service? how does THAT foster equality? ALSO ALSO, lets look at the demographic of those serving in the military and then re-evaluate how it is not key in poverty and unemployment issues?
so then this should have been okay http://www.buzzfeed.com/amyodell/how-not-to-apologize-for-publishing-racially-insensitive-pho
no one can replicate the original. haunting, moody, beautiful
“it doesn’t make you a bad person if you do not like the way someone looks…. [bodybuilders] are narcissistic and shallow. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
couldn’t metonymy and synecdoche be used interchangibly? if not could some explain the difference
Jesus. I love the lazy activist. Tweeting “outrage” at a fashion designer rather than pharmaceutical companies. brava, all of you. your tweet has sufficiently ended the drug epidemic.
why would mary lambert, who only sang the hook of the song, make an acceptance speech when it was macklemore and ryan lewis actually wrote and produced it? are you an idiot?
are you kidding me? he takes a figure and puts a skull and cross bones on it. every time. every. time. this isn’t art and he isn’t an artist.
did you even actually read the wikipedia page? you’re talking about .1-1% of the population of live births that have ambiguous genitalia. even further, for those in which chromosomal sex is inconsistent with phenotypic sex, or in which the phenotype is not classifiable as either male or female” is about 0.018% so sure. this demands that much attention.
actually it is a jif. the creators of the format pronounced with a soft G, like gin, because they had a tag line “choosy programmers choose gif” which is a play on “choosy moms choose jif”.
STOP TRYING TO MAKE “VINE” HAPPEN
you see what you want to see. they are selling “intimates” hence they are portraying a voyeuristic approach at seeing women at their most intimate— taking a bath, changing their underwear, masturbating (the NSFW one), not entirely sure about the first one but sure lets jump to the “she was probably beaten or upset” approach because hell, anytime a woman is on her stomach with face out of view it’s DEFINITELY abuse. so so so sick of jezebel and their continual lack of confidence in women. it’s always men bringing women down and making us look bad because, apparently, its so damn easy. see what you want, i see a sexually charged intimates ad that yes happen to have a fetish aspect to it but is jezebel proposing that fetishes are misogynist?
dumbledore was gay. as was grindelwald
she played a college student in Dawson’s Creek.
thank you vogue. i really dig kate upton’s curvy body but all of her editorials have all been really trashy and tit-tacular which made her look really tacky (like, seriously how many terry richardson shoots does one model need to do?) this is classy, beautiful, and tastefully sexy.
the fine print but its meant to appear as though they are all white. an even with the fine print included, 6 of the 12 contenders are not Caucasian! i don’t know where they learned statistics from but 50% does not equate to “most”
