Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Feels "Misunderstood" Amid The Recent Internet Hate

J.Lo's faced a lot of flak, from criticism of her new film and album to debate about whether she's really from the block after a strange clip of her talking about growing up in the Bronx went viral.

If you've been online over the last month or so, you've probably seen a hate tweet or two (if not more) about Jennifer Lopez.

The hate isn't necessarily new. Jennifer's always courted controversy for everything from her music and singing abilities to her cringey posts on important issues.

However, the backlash has reallyyyy surged in recent weeks.

It seemingly started in February after Jennifer released a three-part multimedia series, which included her This Is Me... Now album, a musical movie of the same name, and the documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. Jennifer financed the project herself for $20 million.

Unfortunately, the album — her first in a decade — failed to make an impact. It debuted at only No. 38 on the Billboard 200 before quickly tumbling off the charts. The film received a lukewarm reception from critics and was called “weird,” “boring,” and self-absorbed in some reviews. Some also said the documentary felt inauthentic — like this viral clip of J.Lo talking about her Bronx upbringing.

Jennifer herself has yet to address the hate, but a source insists she's unbothered.

"Jen has not been paying much attention to any outside hate," a source told Entertainment Tonight.

"She has always had to deal with criticism and knows that she is misunderstood by some. She realizes that will always be the case because she's an artist and there are people who don't get her or know her."

The insider also shared how her husband, Ben Affleck, has allegedly been helping her through it. "Ben is 100 percent supportive of Jen and keeps it real with her," the source said. "They both know this is part of the business and remind each other that you can't please everyone. They acknowledge what really matters, lift each other up, and encourage each other's talents and capabilities."
