What in the hell was wrong with that whale?
What in the hell was wrong with that whale?
I don’t think half the population would qualify as ‘not smart enough’ to go to college. Sure, there are genuine cases of mental handicaps that preclude people from seeking academically driven careers, but I doubt a majority, or even a plurality of McDonalds employees are ‘not smart enough’ to go to some kind of college/technical or trade school. I understand your point, but I don’t think it occurs as frequently as you’re postulating.
Oprah Winfrey, Chris Gardner, Sheldon Adelson, Howard Schultz—there are plenty of examples of success stories from crap situations that took RESPONSIBILITY for their future, busted their asses and made sure that their livelihood was not dependent upon an initiative to raise the minimum wage. I don’t disagree that there should be aid and assistance for people who are well and truly impoverished. But, I do not have sympathy for those who rely on their job at McDonalds to provide them a living wage. Agreed—the cost of college is a moot point. It is what it is, and our fantastic congress is not looking to address that anytime soon. That being said, become a realist, recognize your reality and find a way to make it work for you. Utilize after-school programs and clubs, find a teacher that can mentor you, work with your school’s guidance counselor to help with locating scholarships—there are plenty of publicly funded resources available. Here’s your source, pal:
Canavan, K. (2009, March 15). Scholarships for college often go unclaimed. Retrieved from http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=7592167 No award necessary, I’m quite satisfied with what I’ve accomplished.
Did you read what I was saying at all? There are countless scholarships and grants that go unused because people don’t want to take the time to apply. My Dad got laid off as a pilot after September 11th (read: we shopped at thrift stores, spent $30/week for family of five’s food), they could not afford to send me to college so I BUSTED my ass, got multiple athletic and academic scholarships and I am STILL paying off my student loans. I worked 3+ jobs over the summer (unpaid internships, where I ate peanut butter on free saltines for dinner) which resulted in a pretty damn good job and I am getting a graduate degree now. WORK YOUR ASS OFF AND GET YOURSELF A BETTER JOB.
What is the incentive to bust your ass and go to college if everyone is going to paid the same? Work hard, get good grades, and open up your options for academic scholarships. I DO NOT BUY the argument that an individual growing up with limited means cannot make something of themselves. Yes, there are people with adverse circumstances, and they should be provided with help but a blanket statement that people (working at McDonalds) should get $15 because they couldn’t afford college is horseshit.
I am a rational Republican, and extremely embarrassed by his behavior. It’s shameful how he is belittling the value of a human life. Yes, immigration reform needs to be addressed, but not at the cost of dehumanizing a population.
How come people don’t have accents when they sing?
He reads so well where they are going to be. That is damn hot.
Well yeah, he’s the only one sitting there with a glove on.
I think this might be a reach.
This former college softball player is sorely disappointed.
You’re right—the committee isn’t investigating this because our Ambassador and three other people were murdered, the GOP are totally scheming to screw the Dems in three and a half years (by many MOCs what will NOT EVEN BE IN OFFICE THEN). Good Lord, your partisan whining is stifling.
Three whistleblowers came forward, what the hell kind of Congress would we have if we ignored them testifying as to the night our Ambassador was murdered? You’re losing sight of the issue.
If in your first sentence, you are trying to bring up a president that had NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS attack, you should re-evaluate your assertions. Our ambassador was murdered, you’re losing sight of the issue.
Yeah, cause finding out the details about an ambassador’s murder is obviously secondary to her fledgling campaign.
Best dogs ever.
Thank you. Please ask a rape victim if they find this to be an accurate comparison of the physical, mental and emotional assault they endured.
She’s beautiful, but many of her maternity outfits haven’t done her any favors.
Absolutely disrespectful. Super classy, Buzzfeed. Beyond pathetic that differing political opinions can lead you to post something so tasteless.
I think there are far worse things in the world for activists and passionate people to focus their energy on. Personally, I’m not offended—these swimsuits are no skimpier than the string bikinis that twelve year olds are walking around with already.
