The Harry Potter series has provided an endless supply of wedding inspiration, from proposals to engagement photos to themed weddings. And when Harry Potter fanatic Marissa married Kyle Pick in September, the groom and their photographers, Patrick Meyers and Joe Mowczko of Heroic Photography, secretly planned some Harry Potter-inspired photos for the big day! They gathered a Gryffindor scarf, a magic wand, and the entire book series for the portraits, culminating the photo session with an epic battle against Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. We’ve seen a lot of creepy/cool engagement photos over the years, but this one might just take the cake. Inspired by the zombie-themed engagement shoots that went viral, bride-to-be Vanesa Lawson and her fiancé Josh Morden decided to draw inspiration from classic slasher flick Friday the 13th for their photos. Photos by Brandon Gray.
Now that Kim and Kanye are officially engaged, we can start fantasizing about their wedding. Personally, I’m hoping they’ll opt for a low-key (non-televised…) celebration, like recent celeb couples Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard and Kelly Clarkson & Brandon Blackstock. But since this will be Kanye’s first wedding (and Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ ratings are slipping), we wouldn’t be surprised if they opted for a more elaborate affair. And if they do, our wedding planner friend Jervon Mackey has got them covered. He recently put together an inspiration shoot for the celebrity couple — using Barbies again, of course!
Whether you’re planning a spooky Halloween wedding or are just searching for an out-of-this-world spot to tie the knot, give your guests the thrill of a lifetime at one of these extraordinary venues.
We’ve seen plenty of movie-themed engagement photos over the years, from Breakfast at Tiffany’s to Harry Potter to The Notebook.
But instead of just dressing up as characters and choosing a vague reminiscent location, Jeff Grubb and his fiancée, Stephanie, photoshopped themselves right into some of the most iconic scenes from their favorite movies. And they didn’t just choose love stories; their movie selections include some unconventional picks, like E.T. and The Shining. Check out some of our favorites.
Grab the tissues — this ill bride’s loved ones and community rallied together to throw her dream wedding.
When Carol and Willie Fowler learned that their daughter Tamara’s wedding had been called off just 40 days before the big day, they were shocked. They also had an important decision to make - what to do about the deposit that had already been paid to the venue, Villa Christina, for the 200-guest reception. Instead of letting the money go to waste, Willie suggested they turn the wedding into an event for the homeless. The next day, Carol reached out to a local charity, Hosea Feed the Hungry, and asked if they could donate the dinner.
If Jennifer Salvage’s wedding dress could talk, it would have some pretty wild travel stories to tell. It’s gone dog sledding in Iceland, paragliding in New Zealand, and even taken an under-the-sea dip in Maui. The gown’s been worn 148 times in 19 locations across six continents and has traveled a total of 147,500 miles. Salvage, 42, a Medford, NJ native, brings it along to every vacation in a backpack.
