1. Imani Coppola, "Legend of a Cowgirl"

“Legend of the Cowgirl,” was the first single released off Imani’s -- then-timely titled – 1997 debut album, Chupacabra. While the song reached the Billboard Hot 100, it was the video, played heavily on MTV, that helped make the song a hit.

2. Jimmy Ray, "Are You Jimmy Ray?"

In 1997, the British pop-rockabilly singer's debut single reached No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. The success of the song led to Jimmy opening for the Backstreet Boys’ during the summer leg of their Backstreet's Back Tour in 1998.

3. Del Amitri, "Roll to Me"

The Scottish band reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with their ubiquitous 1995 single off their fourth album, Twisted.

4. Dionne Farris, "I Know"

“I Know,” was the first single released from Dionne Farris (who is best known as the vocalist in Arrested Development) 1994 debut solo album, Wild Seed – Wild Flower. The song peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1995.

5. Charles & Eddie,"Would I Lie to You"

The duo’s hit song peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1992.

6. Take That, "Back For Good"

One of the biggest UK pop bands of the ‘90s, whose career, strangely, never took off in the U.S. But they did have one hit off their third studio album, Nobody Else, the 1995 ballad “Back for Good,” that reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.

7. The Tony Rich Project, "Nobody Knows"

“Nobody Knows" was Tony Rich’s first single off his debut album Words, the song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song was also nominated for the 1997 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance; but it lost to Eric Clapton's "Change the World".

8. Donna Lewis, "I Love You (Always Forever)"

Donna Lewis’ debut single was a huge hit -- the song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for nine weeks in 1996, but it was unable to claim the top-spot due to the even larger success of Los del Río's “Macarena."

9. Us3, "Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)"

"Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)" was the first single off the British jazz-rap group's debut album, Hand on the Torch. In 1993 the song reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

10. Billie Myers, "Kiss The Rain"

Released in 1997, “Kiss the Rain” peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The title of the song was allegedly inspired by Bush's hit song "Glycerine,” Billie misheard the lyrics to the song and thought Gavin Rossdale was singing “kiss the rain."

11. Dishwalla, "Counting Blue Cars"

In 1996, the song peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

12. Deep Blue Something, "Breakfast At Tiffany's"

"Breakfast at Tiffany's” originally appeared on the band’s 1993 debut album, 11th Song, but it was then re-recorded and released on their 1995 album Home – where it became a hit. The song peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

According to lead singer Todd Pipes, the lyrics of the song were actually inspired by another Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday, but he thought that Breakfast at Tiffany's sounded like a better song title.

13. Jennifer Paige, "Crush"

"Crush" was the first single off Jennifer’s 1998 debut album Jennifer Paige. The song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for nine consecutive weeks.

14. Tatyana Ali, "Daydreamin'

Tatyana Ali, who is best known for playing Ashley on the The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, released her debut album 1998, which spawned the hit song “Daydreamin’.” The song peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

15. Jordan Knight, "Give It to You"

"Give to You" was the New Kid On The Block's Jordan Knight's 1999 solo debut single. The song peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Since then, Knight has wisely returned to making music with New Kids On The Block.

16. Joe Public, "Live and Learn"

Released in 1992 as the second single from the bands debut album, “Live and Learn” peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

17. Five, "When The Lights Go Out"

Released in 1998, "When the Lights Go Out" was the second single released from the British boy band Five's debut album, 5ive. The song peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

While Five continued to have commercial success in the U.K. and Europe, the song remains their only U.S. hit.

18. DJ Kool, "Let Me Clear My Throat"

"Let Me Clear My Throat" reached No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.
