Great photos, but be careful with measures of “energy” vs. measures of “power:” http://www.ucsusa.org/clean_energy/our-energy-choices/how-is-electricity-measured.html
It isashame that Republican governors are currently not also positioning their states as leaders in climate change policy. Gov. Pataki (R-NY) worked to create the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and Gov. Schwarzenegger (R-CA) was at the forefront of his state’s ambitious agenda. Even several men who ran for the Republican presidential nomination for 2012 took action to mitigate climate change during their governorships. Those of us seekingareasonable and rational response to the scientific consensus-aresponse that not only helps the environment but improves economic, quality of life, and public health outcomes- must hope that the polarization of Washington on this issue will not infect state capitals. The states have achieved significant successes and Democrats and Republicans outside of the Beltway have an opportunity for bottom-up leadership going forward.
