For myself as a Native American it is very disheartening to read these comments. I can understand how many think this was an over reaction but it’s disappointing that since Pocahontas was a Disney character that it makes her wrong to feel upset. As a child I was excited that a Disney princess was going to be a native woman but as I grew I realized how horribly wrong and inaccurate the film is, I haven’t watched it since. Disney has had a long history of being historically inaccurate and also down right racist. Don’t get me wrong I have loved many Disney movies but for an adult to dress up as Disney Pocahontas it is a little offensive to me. If a child wants to dress in that costume then that’s fine but if you’re adult then you should be a little bit more culturally sensitive. Have the knowledge about what you’re wearing and what it means to others.

Clan of the cave bear by Jean m Auel. The series is one of my favorites but it will make you cry. Also Harry Potter, each time I reread them I still sob.
