Following the six-month journey Andy George from How to Make Everything took to make a sandwich from scratch, he decided to see how long it would take to make a suit from scratch:

Step 1: Cotton.
...then the spinning...
...then the weaving.
Step 2: Wool.
Note: Shearing a sheep is not as easy as it seems.
Spin the wool.
Knit the wool.
Step 3: Hemp. First it must be harvested.
Then comes the breaking...
...then the hackling...
...and duh, spinning and weaving.
Step 4: Silk. First you must raise silkworms.
Once they have produced silk, it needs to be reeled.
And, you guessed it, woven.
Step 5: Alpaca.
Then comes the felting.
Step 6: Leather.
In this case, it was a deer.
Next comes the fleshing, which is exactly what it sounds like.
Then it must be dehaired...
...and dyed with tree bark.
After some leather working...
...and lots of cutting and tailoring...
...the suit was assembled!
It definitely has a very homemade ~vibe~ and would probably work best in a cold climate. But even after all that work, he was a little short on material!
