    Crown The Empire

Article with Crown the Empire on how they enjoy touring cross country on one of the biggest music festival of the summer.

    Crown the Empire

With mind-blowing concept record The Resistance: Rise of the Runaways fresh out of the oven, and an array of tours set in stone, Crown The Empire is quickly winning the hearts of millions of fans across the globe. Lead singer Andrew who is only 19 years of age, along with 24 year-old master-of-drums Brent gave us a snippet of their time to allow us access into the cog and crown's function. Favorite songs, the love of tour, and fans who yell louder than Andy himself, everything and more is here for all the curious minds

Brent: I'm Brent and I play drums.

Andrew: I'm Andrew and I sing in Crown The Empire.

Zhayda: What inspired you to do music?

B: Music has always been a part of my family. My uncle played a bunch of different instruments.

A: Me, personally, I have no music history. My mom can't hit a single note to save her life. I don't know, I just picked it up. I did choir as a blow-off class, I played guitar and sang a little bit too. To do something with my time, I just stuck with it.

Z: What's your favorite part about performing live?

B: The energy. It's always the best part of every single day. Going onstage, the fans going crazy..

    A: Yeah, definitely.

Z: What's your favorite song to play?

A: For me, Makeshift Chemistry. It's the first song we ever came out with. It's high energy, everyone is just stoked the whole time, And that's what it's really all about. Like we said, the vibes are good. If you come out with that song, and everybody is ready to go, then you know it's going to be a good show, that helps us get more confident and we do a good show.

Z: What's the most craziest place you've played a show at?

B: We've done a lot of crazy cities on this tour so far. We opened up in Canada and we had to run to stage. And we thought no one was going to be there, it was really early, but we had a huge crowd and it was a crazy show.

A: Yeah, we were so stressed out that day. I remember running in and we only had 10 minutes to set up and we made it with five minutes to spare. It was insane! We killed it, we killed it.

Z: What's one place you'd like to travel to but haven't?

B: Well we get to go to Europe for the first time this fall with Asking Alexandria.

    A: It's gonna be awesome, I can't wait.

B: I want to go to Thailand, somewhere in South East Asia.

A: Tokyo. I'm all about Japan.

Z: What's the craziest fan experience you've ever had?

B: There are a couple crazy ones out there.

A: There's a lot, there's a lot more than a couple. [Brent and Andrew laugh] his girl yelled at me louder than I've ever heard anyone yell. She yelled, "Pay attention to me!" Everyone within 20 feet turned around to look at her. That was pretty crazy. One of our friends Jeffree, Jeffree Star had a girl that was so nervous she peed her pants and it was wet on the concrete, so he took a picture and tweeted it. It was really gross, I wish something like that happened to me.

Z: What do you guys like so far about touring?

A: We've been touring nonstop for three years now, I mean...

B: Being in a different place every day, meeting new people is always cool.

A: Making new friends, meeting people, we have friends in every city now. That's kind of cool.

Z: What do you guys miss about tour when you're not touring?

B: When I'm home, I'm glad to be home. I don't miss tour at all. [Brent laughs]

A: I was 16 when I joined the band and 17 when we went on our first tour. So now growing up it's been a part of me. And I feel antsy staying in one place, like I need to keep moving. I get nervous. [Andrew shakes]

Z: Musically, what's the message you want to send to your fans?

A: This new record, it's a concept record, by the way, and it's the resistance of people. We kind of personified everything we hate in the world into this character that we fight against. Everyone is an individual and has their own rights.

Z: Dead or alive, who would you want to make an album with?

B: We've always talked about making a song with Gerard Way or Brendon Urie.

A: Slipknot. If I could sing a chorus for them, I would sing the s--t out of it.

Z: Where do you guys see yourselves in the near future?

A: Probably on tour. [Andrew laughs]

B: We have a tour coming up after Warped Tour. Welcome to the Resistance tour and then we'll be in Europe for pretty much the rest of the year, except for the last couple months.

A: Yeah, we get Christmas at home. [Andrew smiles] But, doing the same stuff. We have a new record out and if it goes good, hopefully we'll be going to new places, meet more people.

Z: Any advice for aspiring musicians?

B: Just stay dedicated to it. It's very easy to practice your instruments a few days, go to band practice when it's convenient.

    A: Absolutely.

    Z: Alright, thanks guys.
