Santorum: We’re Going To Surprise A Lot Of People In Michigan

Confident in Ohio and Michigan vote.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio—Rick Santorum is confident about his performance in Michigan tonight, telling a crowd of supporters in Ohio, which votes next week, that i's a "big day."

"What a big day this is going to be," he said, to a packed hotel ballroom audience of 500. "I’m predicting we’re going to surprise a lot of people in Michigan."

Santorum is neck-and-neck with Romney in the state-wide popular vote, but is likely to trail Romney on delegate allocation, which is done by congressional district. If he captures a substantial number of delegates, or wins the popular vote, he may truly surprise the nation — and certainly Romney's Boston operation.
